Samsung breaks TV sales records


It’s no secret that Samsung is one of the leading players in the TV market, and the South Korean giant confirms this quarter after quarter with record sales. Samsung broke another record in the first quarter of 2021, according to a new report from research firm Omdia.

According to Omdia analysts, in the period from January to March this year, Samsung broke its own record for TV sales, occupying 32.9% of the global market. Samsung is followed by another Korean manufacturer – LG got 19.2% of the market. The Japanese brand Sony closes the top three according to the results of the last quarter, which accounted for 8% of world sales.

Analysts point out that Samsung continues to dominate the premium TV segment. 46.6% of TVs sold over $ 2,500 in the first three months of this year were branded Samsung. Samsung is followed by LG and Sony in this segment with sales at 24.5% and 17.6% respectively. If we talk about TVs with a display diagonal of 80 inches or more, then Samsung leads here with 52.4%.

The QLED TV segment is also on the rise, with sales up 74.3% year over year, surpassing 2.68 million units in the first quarter. Moreover, 2.01 million of them were released by Samsung.
