Samsung captured almost half of the smartphone memory market in Q1

According to the latest research by Strategy Analytics, the global smartphone memory market was $ 11.4 billion in the first quarter of 2021. Samsung Memory is the leader in this market, accounting for 49% of sales (DRAM and NAND in total). It is followed by SK Hynix and Micron. These three companies together generated more than 80% of the global smartphone memory market revenue in the first quarter of 2021.

The NAND flash memory market for smartphones saw an 18% year-over-year increase in revenue, driven by the adoption of UFS modules, especially in mid-range and high-end devices. Samsung Memory holds 42% of this market. It is followed by SK Hynix with 20%. Kioxia is in third place with 19%.

In the first quarter of 2021, the annual revenue from sales of DRAM chips for smartphones increased by 21% compared to the same period last year. Samsung Memory holds 54% of this market. It is followed by SK Hynix and Micron with 25% and 20% respectively.
