Samsung fleshed out 4-year smartphone updates: support for flagships and non-flagships is different

Samsung recently announced that some of its current smartphones (2019 and newer) will receive security patches for at least four years after release. This news has created a buzz in the Android world, as virtually no other manufacturer offers such an advantage. However, along with this, questions have arisen as to whether support for flagship models will differ from support for others. Now Samsung has removed the veil of secrecy: smartphones will be updated differently depending on the model and relevance.

New high-end and enterprise devices will receive security patches every month, and mid-range gadgets and legacy flagship models will be updated quarterly. Over time, the speed of distribution of patches will decrease: in the last (fourth) year of support, devices will begin to receive two security updates.
