Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra loses to the younger Galaxy S21 in at least one discipline. This is slow motion

Last week, Samsung unveiled the Galaxy S21, Galaxy S21 + and Galaxy S21 Ultra smartphones, noting that the top flagship with the best camera is the Galaxy S21 Ultra. However, one moment remained behind the scenes, it concerns slow-motion photography.

The Samsung Galaxy S21 and S21 + smartphones support super slow motion video recording at 960 frames per second. And Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra, which received an improved camera, does not have such support. More precisely, at the hardware level, the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra records video at 480 frames per second, and then uses software algorithms to insert intermediate frames and increase the frequency to 960 frames per second.

At the same time, the owners of the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra can record videos of 1 second, which, when played in slow motion, turn into 32-second clips. For the Galaxy S21 and Galaxy S21 +, the recording lasts 0.5 seconds, and the final video takes 16 seconds.

Samsung commented on this information, stating that the reason is the larger image sensor of the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra, which operates at a different shutter speed when recording video.Rather than artificially limiting the capabilities of the Galaxy S21 and Galaxy S21 +, Samsung decided to give them full 960 recording capability. frames per second and use its frame rate conversion technology in the older model, arguing that the difference will not be very noticeable.
