Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra’s failed camera is already being sold to other manufacturers

As it became known, Samsung has already begun shipping the 10x optical zoom camera module that debuted in the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra to other smartphone manufacturers.

Unveiling the flagship smartphone Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra, the South Korean manufacturing giant claimed it was the best camera in the company’s history, but a DxOMark review published today ranked the phone only 17th in the list of the best camera phones. In terms of camera capabilities, the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra is much inferior to last year’s Galaxy S20 Ultra and many other smartphones.

In the camera of Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra, the wide-angle module has a resolution of 108 megapixels, the ultra-wide-angle module is equipped with an image sensor with a resolution of 12 megapixels. A very high quality zoom (100x Space Zoom) is also claimed. In fact, one module provides 3x optical zoom, another one provides 10x optical zoom. The manufacturer decided not to make this technology exclusive.

Samsung Electro-Mechanics today confirmed today that it is already supplying the camera module to global smartphone manufacturers, but the specific names are still being kept under wraps. It is noteworthy that even such a high-quality zoom did not allow the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra to get into even the top ten camera phones.

Recently, Samsung has shown more interest in the automotive market. Earlier this year, reports surfaced that Samsung was allegedly planning a new wave of mergers and acquisitions in the automotive supply sector. Now Samsung Electro-Mechanics has said it will use the technology and expertise it has accumulated to date in the mobile space to expand its business with global auto companies.
