Samsung has been and remains one of the leading smartphone brands when it comes to foldable smartphones. According to the latest data, the company currently dominates this market.
Research firm Omdia confirms that Samsung accounted for over 61% of the foldable smartphone market share in 2021. Omdia also reports that out of the top 11 foldable devices available on the market, 5 models are from Samsung.
The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 was the most popular foldable smartphone with sales of around 4.6 million units. This is a big achievement for the South Korean tech giant, which only sold 1.1 million original Galaxy Z Flips. It is worth noting that the novelty cost 400 less than the original smartphone, which helped increase sales.

On the other hand, the company has also reduced the price of the Galaxy Z Fold 3 by $200 compared to its predecessor, resulting in a huge increase in shipments from 700,000 units in 2020 to 2.5 million units in 2021.
The combined shipments of Galaxy Z Flip 3 and Galaxy Z Fold 3 smartphones are 7.1 million units, accounting for more than 61% of the total number of foldable phones. It is estimated that Samsung devices could account for more than 70% of the global foldable smartphone market this year.
