Samsung is the world’s second largest manufacturer of image sensors for smartphone cameras, they are used by almost all brands of mobile devices. Over the past couple of years, the South Korean giant has released several advanced sensors, including ISOCELL GN1 and ISOCELL GN2. This year, the company has developed another large ISOCELL GNV sensor, and it will be used in the Vivo smartphone.
According to reports, Samsung received an order from the Chinese manufacturer Vivo to create a special image sensor. ISOCELL GNV seems to be a slightly modified version of ISOCELL GN1. It has a size of 1 / 1.31 “and a resolution of 50 MP. The new sensor will act as the main camera of the Vivo X80 Pro + with a gimbal-like optical stabilization system. Three more modules will complement it: 48 / 50 MP ultra-wide angle (Sony IMX) , 12 MP with 2x optical zoom and OIS, and 8 MP with 5x optical zoom and OIS.The main camera will be able to record video in 8K resolution.
It is also known that the Vivo X80 Pro + will receive a custom image processor (ISP) called V1 +, created in collaboration with MediaTek. The new chip improves image brightness by 16% and improves white balance by 12% in low light conditions.
