Samsung Electronics has begun rolling out a major update for its Galaxy Watch4 (review) and Galaxy Watch 4 Classic smartwatches in the international market.

We will remind, a week ago users in South Korea began to receive the update, and Samsung promised to soon release it to the rest of the world. Now the Korean manufacturer has kept its promise. The update was able to join in the United States and the Netherlands, as well as in some other regions.

The update offers quite a few innovations. Four new watch face types are available on the watch – the Info Brick, which displays key metrics ranging from heart rate and stress levels to daily activity data, as well as customizable weather forecasts, dashboards or live wallpapers.

Added additional watch face settings – you can combine up to four additional functions on one Animal watch face, including battery level, reminders, messages, pedometer data, and so on. You can choose an animated GIF image as a background for the My Photos + watch face, rather than a regular one static photo. More animation has appeared for the “Competition” dial, the selected character will follow the user at every stage, up to stormy congratulations on victory.

There are new control gestures – with a simple tap, you can open a selected application or activate a function. In the backup function, it became possible to remember the settings of preloaded watch faces when updating the watch or resetting it to connect to a new device.
Fall detection has been redesigned and the sensitivity of the Galaxy Watch4 can now be adjusted to detect falls even when the user is standing still. Other changes include improved accuracy of heart rate changes, support for “Silent” mode during a call.
