In the wake of Google, which recently released Android 12 for Pixel smartphones, South Korean giant Samsung has begun rolling out the stable version of One UI 4 on its flagship smartphones. The Galaxy S21 series smartphones will be the first to receive the new version of the shell based on Android 12.
One UI 4 offers a ton of new features with visual updates and increased privacy. Similar to how Google introduced responsive Material You skins to Pixel smartphones, Samsung has implemented a new color palette in its skin that allows users to change the skin based on the dominant color of the installed wallpaper. The widgets have also received changes to provide users with more in-depth customization. For example, the calendar is now displayed as a whole month and shows upcoming events. Samsung keyboard has got more animated emoji with the function of merging multiple emojis.
Thanks to Android 12, One UI 4 also introduces new privacy features. Camera and microphone indicators do not appear in the notification bar to alert users when an app is using them. Instead, there is a new privacy dashboard where all the relevant settings and controls are stored. There, users can see which apps have had access to the camera, microphone, or location for how long, and disable it if necessary.

One UI 4 availability will vary by region. The Galaxy S21 series will initially receive the update, followed by the foldable Galaxy Z series, the earlier Galaxy S, Galaxy Note and Galaxy A.
