IDC analysts evaluated the tablet market in the EMEA region, which includes Europe (including Russia), the Middle East and Africa. The region, according to various estimates, has 2-2.2 billion people.

The region shipped 14.6 million tablets last quarter, up 11.7%. Of this number, about 1.1 million units were in the educational segment, which is a record for the region.
Samsung remained the market leader and managed to widen the gap from Apple. The former sold 4.1 million devices, occupying 28.1% of the market and increasing sales by 26.4%. The second sold 3.59 million tablets, an increase of 17.1% and a 24.6% market share.

Also on the leaderboard are Lenovo, Huawei and, interestingly, Microsoft. The latter was able to increase sales by 21.8%, to 461,000 units. The largest growth was shown by Lenovo: by 152.8%, to 2.67 million.
