One of the leading technology companies in the world, South Korean Samsung is serious about entering the cryptocurrency market.
The investment division of the corporation is considering the possibility of launching its own cryptocurrency platform. One of the seven brokerages Samsung Securities is ready to launch a crypto exchange in the first half of 2023. According to company representatives, management is currently discussing this issue.
Samsung Securities is conducting research on the best way to enter the blockchain business. The company’s attempts to launch an exchange last year were unsuccessful. At that time, the company reportedly failed to hire suitable specialists to manage the trading floor. However, Samsung still intends to take its place in a young and rapidly growing market.
In early August, Samsung Securities became one of three financial institutions in South Korea to become partners the country’s largest exchange Bithumb. Samsung Securities customers can now check the status of their crypto investments through Samsung’s own app. The company is also the first to launch a blockchain global exchange-traded fund (ETF) in Asia.
And in July, the corporation announced the launch of its own interactive world within the Roblox metaverse. Samsung said it wants to introduce the younger generation to its history and products through an interactive world within this metaverse.
Earlier, Samsung Next Managing Director Raymond Liao said he sees potential in the Web3 industry, so the company will focus on investing in blockchain, artificial intelligence, and the metaverse.
