Samsung lost to its Chinese competitor and dropped to second place. BOE surpasses Samsung Display in smartphone display market

According to analysts at Qunzhi Consulting, the Chinese company BOE overtook Samsung Display in 2020 and took first place in the smartphone display market.

BOE shipped 408 million panels, accounting for 21.6% of the market, while Samsung shipped 370 million panels, or 19.6%. A year earlier, the shares of the companies were 21.8% and 22.3%, respectively. It is also worth noting that BOE increased shipments by 5.2%, while Samsung shipments decreased by 7%.

The third place is taken by Tianma, which sold 194 million panels in a year.

When it comes to OLED panels, Samsung is second to none. The fact is that all 370 million panels that the Korean giant produced in a year are OLED panels. The same BOE is only talking about 36 million, and it is she who takes second place. Samsung Display has a 75.4% market share.
