Samsung remains the undisputed leader of the shrinking smartphone market in EMEA

Analyst firm IDC has published the results of 2020 in the smartphone market in relation to the EMEA region (Europe, Middle East and Africa). According to analysts, the dynamics turned out to be the worst in the past six years.

During the year, 345.2 million devices were shipped, which is 4.2% less than in 2019. In monetary terms, the market shrank by 4.6% to $ 110 billion. At the same time, in Europe, sales in quantitative terms decreased by 4.9%, to 195.2 million units, and in monetary terms – by 3%, to 82.4 billion dollars.

Sales of the monster of autonomy Samsung Galaxy M62 with a 7000 mAh battery started Samsung remains the market leader. Even having reduced supplies by 15.9% – from 118.5 million units to 99.7 million units, the South Korean manufacturer holds 28.9% of the market. Samsung’s closest competitor, Apple, holds 15.4%. Transsion is in third place with 13.6%. The top five also include Huawei and Xiaomi. The shares of these companies are 12.7% and 11.9%, respectively.
