The story of a possible ban on sales in Russia of 61 models of modern Samsung smartphones has come to a logical conclusion.

According to RIA Novosti with reference to representatives of the law firm Hogan Lovells, Rospatent has canceled the patent of the Swiss company Sqwin SA for the “Electronic Payment System”.
Recall that last year Sqwin SA filed a lawsuit demanding to ban the use of the Samsung Pay payment service in Russia, since it violates its copyrights protected by a Russian patent. In October, a list of smartphones became known that would be banned if it came into force. The list includes 61 models of modern Samsung smartphones – from the Samsung Galaxy J5 released in 2017 to the latest Galaxy Z Flip and Galaxy Z Fold.
Samsung filed an appeal, and on March 17, the Ninth Arbitration Court of Appeal overturned the decision of the Moscow Arbitration Court, which included a ban on the sale of smartphones with the Samsung Pay payment service in Russia.
Now the “stumbling block patent” has been completely canceled in accordance with the objection of the Russian representative office of Samsung Electronics due to violations during its registration in Russia.
