In March 2017, Samsung introduced the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 + flagship smartphones. And throughout that time, Samsung has supported these smartphones by regularly releasing software updates and security patches for them. But four years later, the company still decided to stop supporting them.
As the authors of the DroidLife portal discovered, Samsung has removed the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 + from the list of models that receive security updates. But the Samsung Galaxy S8 Active and Galaxy S8 Life, released a few months later, are still on the list and will receive updates on a regular basis, however, how long is still unknown.
To date, the oldest Samsung flagships that still receive monthly security updates are the Galaxy S10 series. And updates for the Samsung Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9 + are released quarterly and will likely receive updates for at least another year before the Korean giant ends their software support.
