Last week, Samsung posted a video showing a Galaxy smartphone with a camera under the screen. Perhaps this is the Galaxy Note 21 Ultra, which is expected later this year.
Now it became known that Samsung Display has applied for trademark registration in South Korea. The UPC trademark was registered on January 15, 2021. This abbreviation is used to mean “Under Panel Camera” or sub-screen camera.
The trademark description states that Samsung wants to use the name in new smartphones, laptops and smart TVs. It is not yet clear which Galaxy smartphone will first feature this technology.

Samsung is not the only company that is working in this direction. In mid-2019, Oppo and Xiaomi have already shown smartphones with a camera under the display. Last year Xiaomi announced that it has already prepared the third generation of the sub-screen camera.
The ZTE Axon 20 5G smartphone with a sub-screen camera has already been presented on the market, but it is inferior in image quality to the usual solutions.
