Samsung unveils Odyssey Ark, the world’s largest curved monitor

Over the years, Samsung has been producing curved monitors in various formats, but yesterday, January 4, the manufacturer showed the world a real 55-inch monster – the device was given the sonorous name of Odyssey Ark. This is the largest curved monitor in the world, which is equipped with a special stand that allows you to rotate the monitor both horizontally and vertically. And, judging by the reviews of foreign journalists who have already tried this new product at the Samsung stand, it is really convenient to use the device in any of the orientations.

Here is a first look at the INSANE Odyssey Ark from @Samsung! This is a curved 55″ 4K Monitor with a 16:9 aspect ratio… Can do some serious gaming/multitasking on this! #those #samsung pic.twitter.com/Y82hbeY9gg

In the horizontal position, the monitor is a rather impressive curved canvas (the degree of rounding is not indicated), which is suitable for video editing, working with graphics, documents and tables, as well as for entertainment in video games. Still, if you do not take into account the gigantic dimensions, this is a completely standard monitor with an aspect ratio of 32: 9 – this aspect ratio is fully supported by both games and professional software. When viewed vertically, the Odyssey Ark is even more impressive – a dream come true for a streamer tired of multiple monitors on a desk.

The fact is that in a vertical position, the user can divide the work area into three sections, using the Multiview technology, getting, in fact, three monitors with an aspect ratio of 16: 9. The demo shots show how the scene preview is placed in the upper part during the live broadcast, the gameplay is placed in the center, and the images from the interlocutors’ webcams are placed at the bottom. The best part is that this is not just a concept that will be shown and forgotten at the end of the presentation – Samsung said that this is a completely working concept, potentially ready for mass production and release.
