According to Korean media reports, nearly half of the smartphones and tablets that Samsung Electronics plans to release in 2022 will use Qualcomm SoCs. At the same time, since the beginning of this year, Samsung has had problems due to the inability to purchase the SoC from Qualcomm.
TheElec reports that next year Samsung Electronics will release 64 models of smartphones and tablets (previously reported 52 models). In 31 of them, it is planned to use mobile platforms provided by Qualcomm. In addition, 20 of the 64 will use Exynos SoCs co-developed by Samsung Electronics and AMD. Finally, 14 will use MediaTek chips and 3 models will receive Unisoc SoCs.
The flagship Galaxy S22 series will use not only Qualcomm Snapdragon 898, but also Samsung Exynos 2200. Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Galaxy Z Flip 4 will receive only Snapdragon 898. Recall today that Qualcomm will change the naming scheme of its platforms. Instead of Snapdragon 898, the company will choose the Snapdragon 8 Gen1 name.
Low-end models such as the Galaxy M33 and Galaxy A33 / 53 will use Samsung’s own SoC, just like the Galaxy A13. But Galaxy A32, M32, A02 and A03 will receive MediaTek platforms. As for tablets, the Galaxy Tab S8, S8 Ultra and S8 Plus will only use the Samsung Exynos 2200.
After the appearance of information about the renaming of Snapdragon 898, it was reported that the same will happen with SoC MediaTek. There is evidence that the next generation MediaTek flagship platform will not be called Dimensity 2000, but Dimensity 9000.
