South Korean electronics and home appliance maker Samsung plans to add collectible token purchases to several of its smart TV lines.
As noted in the announcement, NFT support will be received by the MICRO LED, Neo QLED and The Frame TV lines. Collectible token support will be added to the Smart Hub system. In addition to NFT, the system will support cloud games and video calls. The statement highlights:
“With the growing demand for NFTs, the need for a collectible token solution has never been greater in our ecosystem. In 2022, Samsung is introducing the world’s first NFT browser on TV. It is a groundbreaking platform for browsing, buying and displaying your favorite works of art. Everything in one place!”.
This is not the first experience for Samsung with collectible tokens. Earlier, the venture division of the South Korean conglomerate has invested in several startups working in this area. For example, funds from Samsung were received by Sky Mavis, known for its game Axie Infinity.
Earlier, Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin admitted that he underestimated the level of development of the cryptocurrency industry and therefore could not predict the formation of the NFT sector and the popularity of collection tokens.
