The regional delegate of the Civil Police of Minas Gerais (PCMG) Ivan Lopes Sales said, on Friday (5), that doctors from the Mobile Emergency Care Service (Samu) immediately found the death of singer Marília Mendonça, of the producer Henrique Ribeiro, and his uncle and advisor Abicieli Silveira Dias Filho, during a plane crash in Piedade de Caratinga, in the west of the state.
According to information from PCMG, the pilot identified as Geraldo Martins de Medeiros and the co-pilot as Tarciso Pessoa Viana were in an area of difficult access, where more specialized removal work was needed.
The bodies, according to delegate Ivan, should be released from the Forensic Medical Institute (IML) between dawn and morning, after identification by family members. After that, they will be sent to the funeral home to be prepared for the wake that will take place in Goiânia, scheduled around 8:00 am, this Saturday (6), at the Goiânia Arena (Ginásio Valério Luiz de Oliveira).
The medical examiner Pedro José Fernandes Nunes Coelho informed that the cause of death has not yet been confirmed and will only be after the expertise. Preliminary analyzes found that it was an accident with high-impact kinetic energy, which caused several traumas to the aircraft’s occupants.
Wreckage of an antenna was found at the site. The Minas Gerais Energy Company (Cemig) reported that the twin-engine plane hit a cable from a company distribution tower.

The singer Marília Mendonça was traveling to fulfill her concert schedule when the aircraft fell into a water course near the BR-474 highway, in the city of Piedade de Caratinga, in Vale do Rio Doce, in the west of Minas Gerais.
According to Infraero, the plane with the artist took off at 1:05 pm (GMT) from Santa Genoveva airport, in Goiânia.
“This Friday (5), a small aircraft, model Beech Aircraft, crashed in the rural area of Piedade de Caratinga. The CBMMG confirms that the aircraft was carrying the singer Marília Mendonça and that she is among the fatal victims,” said the Fire Department in a statement.
The singer’s advisors confirmed the deaths of producer Henrique Ribeiro, the singer’s uncle and advisor, Abicieli Silveira Dias Filho, the plane’s pilot and co-pilot. All bodies were removed from the scene.
The Brazilian Air Force (FAB) said, in a note, that it is identifying the reasons for the crash and removed part of the aircraft for analysis.
