As it became known, Google has stopped licensing Android for Russian smartphone manufacturers. Vladimir Puzanov, CEO of the Russian brand BQ, commented on the situation.
The BQ brand now produces smartphones and TVs, tablets, as well as household appliances. As Puzanov told Gazeta.Ru, the brand’s new devices will be released without the support of Google’s mobile services, the company has already received a message from Google. He noted:
All already licensed devices will continue to work. With new products on Android, there may be problems.
The company has already begun testing an alternative to Android – the HarmonyOS operating system from the Chinese company Huawei. According to a top manager, BQ smartphones with HarmonyOS installed may start selling in the second half of 2022.
