Sandals that belonged to Steve Jobs are auctioned for more than R$ 1 million

An unidentified buyer bought a pair of sandals used by Steve Jobs, the creator of Apple, during the company’s early years for R$ 1.1 million.

Jobs wore the slippers so much during the 1970s and 1980s that the insole bears the imprint of the inventor’s feet, who died in 2011. The winner also took an NFT of the piece.

The auction of the leather pair, by the German brand Birkenstock, took place on Sunday, the 13th, held by Julien’s Auctions, in New York. The amount paid in dollars was US$ 218,750, higher than the expectations of the organizers, who expected to sell them for up to US$ 80,000 (about R$ 430,000).

The first owner of the sandals was Mark Sheff, secretary in the house of the creator of Apple. to review vogue, he said that Jobs designed his own shoes. The businessman’s pieces have already been exhibited in the United States and Europe. Chrisann Brennan, Jobs’ ex-wife, said during one of the flip-flop exhibitions that the items were part of the simple side of the American.

In an interview with NPR, the executive director of the auction house, Martin Nolan, said that this was the highest price ever paid for a shoe and is a house record. Other Jobs items have been auctioned in recent years. The Apple-1, for example, was sold this year for US$ 677,196, close to R$ 3.6 million.

Other famous shoes have already been purchased for a greater amount. A year ago, a Nike shoe worn by Kanye West at the 2008 Grammys sold for $1.8 million (almost $10 million), while a pair of the same brand, but worn by Michael Jordan in 1984, was sold for US$ 1.47 million (almost R$8 million).
