A sandstorm caused a 21-vehicle pile-up on Interstate 90 in the state of Montana in United States Friday night, resulting in six deaths, according to the Montana Highway Patrol.
Montana Attorney General Austin Knudsen said first responders are investigating the incident. accident west of Hardin City and that more information will be released when it becomes available. Knudsen oversees the highway patrol.
“The Montana Highway Patrol is at the scene with other first responders and investigating the incident,” Knudsen said. “This investigation is still ongoing. We will release more information as it becomes available and is appropriate out of respect for the lives lost and their loved ones.”
At trips Interstates were diverted overnight, but I-90 has since reopened, the highway patrol said.
“I am deeply saddened by the news of a mass accident near Hardin. Please join me in prayer to lift up the victims and their loved ones. We are grateful to our first responders for their service,” tweeted Governor Greg Gianforte on Friday.
