Sanremo 2021, from the Can Yaman hypothesis to the budget cut: where are we?

A little less than two months from the start of the event, the organizational machine of Sanremo 2021 works at full capacity to try to bring the Festival back to Raiuno as it was established, without any particular hitches. Rai confirms the dates of 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 March and explains that it would make no sense to postpone the ceremony later because the shadow of Covid would risk extending over the following months as well, placing the same problems to be solved in front of the production as there are now (not to mention that a postponement would have a significant impact on advertising revenues Rai).

And if the technicians already working on the sets of the Ariston Theater have already been subjected to the swab (the number is 350), Amadeus and his team continue to work on the artistic cast that will support him during the five evenings.

Confirmed the presence of Fiorello, Achille Lauro, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Elodie, who will be present in one evening unlike the other three, there is also another name: that of the Turkish actor Can Yaman, very popular in Italy thanks to soaps Daydreamer e Bitter Sweets e recently in our country for having shot a commercial with Claudia Gerini and directed by Ferzan Ozpetek. The indiscretion, reported by Adnkronos, however, he has not yet found the official status of the artistic director, who is more focused on ensuring that Sanremo can be as close as possible to that of recent years while taking into account the numerous restrictions linked to the health emergency. The main issue to be solved is that of the presence of the public in the Ariston theater: something that led epidemiologists to split up and organizers to look for new loopholes to allow the Festival to take place “in total safety”. Gabriele Ciampi, the only Italian on the Grammy jury, proposes to theAdnkronos a “Sanremo Nazionale” that will show the Italian artists guests of the Festival in the theaters of the most symbolic realities of Naples, Milan, Rome and Palermo “to give a beautiful signal of help and openness to the theaters” but, for the moment, it seems that the suggestion is stopped at the starting line.

Still dominating is the idea of ​​the so-called “bubble” that all the workers and artists involved in the event would like in an isolated environment free of external contamination (“You don’t need a cruise ship to create a bubble, you can also use the hotels in Sanremo” Massimo Bassetti said despite the hypothesis of the ship being still at stake due to a mind-boggling figure offered by the sponsor, a good 7 million euros). To complicate matters, however, there are also other variants, not least the cut of 600 thousand euros to the budget made available by Rai to Amadeus. The website of the Everyday occurrence, together with the certainty that not all the seats of the Ariston will be occupied: the idea, at the moment, would include the presence of figures framed as show business workers and a representative number of vaccinated health workers to raise awareness of the ongoing vaccination campaign. The number, on the other hand, is variable: Amadeus spoke of 500 people, but it is not necessarily lower (there is also talk of an empty gallery, occupied only by photographers at work). Even the positions of the Press Office could undergo a drastic downsizing: of the 1,271 accredited journalists in 2020, there are rumors of a maximum of 70 or 100 seats available and well spaced. In short, a Sanremo that tries to restart, but that is forced to deal with the harsh reality.
