Sanremo 2022: Drusilla Foer and the absurd controversy of Simone Pillon

It is a pity that a senator of the Republic, instead of worrying about the imminent election of the President who will go up to the Hill, is worried about who will go on the stage of the Ariston theater but, on the other hand, being Simone Pillon, a politician who has built his career by being the contrary, could not be otherwise. And so, after harshly criticizing the Moonlight for their look, suggesting them to wear a more moderate and measured suit – advice that the band welcomed with a pinch of irony and provocation -, this time, to end up in the center of cyclone Pillon is Drusilla Foer, the character created by the imagination and creativity of the actor Gianluca Gori who will escort Amadeus at the helm of the third evening of the Sanremo 2022 Festival.

“As was largely predictable, the increasingly LGBT Sanremo Festival was assigned the gender-inclusive quota already in the phase of choosing the conductors. One question: but always in compliance with the quotas, one could not have among the co-presenters a normal dad (one eh, not two), and maybe of conservative inspiration? It would be a good sign, if only for the protection of endangered species on television, ”Pillon wrote via social media, probably ignoring that the artistic director of Sanremo is married and has two children. Beyond the usual provocation on the so-called “Normality” – who decided it? Who has the stability? -, let’s say right away that it was in the air that the senator, the same one who had exulted on the occasion of the sinking of the Zan bill, would pronounce on the choice of Amadeus, and therefore that’s okay.

Drusilla Foer

As, however, Simonetta Sciandivasci also underlined on the Press, Drusilla Foer is not a real person, but a fictional character who has a completely invented history, background and character, the result of Gori’s creativity who, over the years, has managed to lay the foundations for an alter ego with passions and desires that do not necessarily coincide with those of his performer. It is, however, amusing to note how these themes, in 2022, continue to scandalize as if we were in the Middle Ages: Fortunately, the audience is smarter than one might imagine, and the thousands of messages of support and love that Drusilla Foer received after Amadeus’ announcement are proof of this.
