Sanremo 2023: all the disputes of Article 31

J-Ax and Dj Jad sing together again and the 90s audience smiles. The two friends are reunited, the great separation that had put an end to the story of the duo who wanted to change hip hop in Italy becomes a memory, and so the Article 31 journey continues, as adults. Alessandro Aleotti and Vito Luca Perrini, now 50 and 56 years old, arrive at the Ariston and sing A nice tripa song which, in addition to ensuring a nostalgia effect, focuses on the ability of two adults to smooth out their differences, enjoying what is beautiful about the past. “How beautiful we were in these old photos”they sing, in the first song that establishes their reunion, which will be celebrated in May on four dates at the Assago Forum.

Anyone who grew up in the 90s knows how much the Article 31s have left their mark.
It is 1990 when the two friends, a rapper and a disc jockeyform the duo that marks the history of hip hop of those years, transforming an underground genre into mainstream. Alessandro Aleotti is J-Ax, Vito Luca Perrini is Dj Jad, respectively of Cologno Monzese and Bollate in the Milanese suburbs, form the Article 31, inspired in the name by Section 31 of the Broadcasting Authority Act, a law enacted by the Irish parliament against the threat to the freedom of expression of thought. And it is precisely the free thought that immediately distinguishes the hip hop duo. They are respectively 18 and 24 years old and have a great desire to “smash”.
Born to rap is their first single but is with Tap here that the radio notices them. Since 1994 the charts host them, the songs become so popular that they win the following year A record for the summersuper pop event with the song Oh Mary (which we hope to see singing on the Ariston stage in duet evenings when the duo will re-propose its great hits). The Spaghetti Funk crew is born, the desire of both is to make hip hop music grow in Italy.

As well as it is perhaps the most important album. It was released in 1996 and marked the recognition of the general public. Don’t worry Funky, Tomorrow, the funkytarro, become the hits that every teenager sings, the 90s has a great piece of soundtrack. Festivalbar, Vota la voce, these are the golden years. The ten-year career is celebrated with a film, Without filter, which appeals more to fans than critics.
It is from 2003 Average Italian, the writing continues to look at society, desecrating clichés, but something starts to go wrong and the rumors of an alleged separation become well founded when in 2006 the “pause for reflection” between the two arrives. There are nine albums released together, it’s time to embark on solo careers. And so it happens, while Dj Jad continues his disc jockey activity, returning to the more underground scenes, Ax works on his solo records, publishes five, then finding a new partner on stage in Fedez, together they arrive at San Siro. In fact, it’s from 2017 Communists with Rolex which brings Ax back to the top of the charts, followed by songs from the summer and new projects. Until 2018, when he invites the former partner to the stage of his 25-year career tour.

We are now starting again from Sanremo, singing the friendship of those who, even from a distance, have perhaps never gotten lost. From “So that after we wrote the manual on how to turn a partner into a rival” to “In life you choose friends, we are the ones who love each other even when they go to war”.
