After three months of work and 1263 songs under consideration, between live selections and listening, Amadeus has finally revealed the four names from the Sanremo area which complete the contestants vying for Sanremo Youth. These are: FIAT 131 with Pupils from Rende (CS), the Milanese GLUE UNCLE with Asphalt, NOOR with You Amelie from Urban and ROMEO & DRILL with School day from Rome.
The names were chosen by two commissions: that musical Rai, made up of the Prime time deputy director Federica Lentini, the teacher Leonardo De Amicis and the author Massimo Martelli, and that of assessment of Area Sanremo composed by Lavinia Iannarilli (Rai share), by the authors Paolo Biamonte and Sergio Rubino, as well as by the artistic director Amadeus.
«I am really satisfied – commented Amadeus – and I want to thank the three members of the Evaluation Commission for the work done in listening to the many songs entered in the selection of Area Sanremo. We have completed the mandate entrusted to us by the Municipality of Sanremo, with rigor and passion. Now the great challenge in view of Sanremo 2023 is up to the four selected artists ».
This poker of budding talent joins the eight already selected at the beginning of November: GIANMARIA with The city I hate, GIUSE THE LIZIA with Sincere, MANINNI with A thousand doors, HE GIVES ME with Maldite, OLLY with The soul dances, SETHU with Underground, SHARI with Whisper, WILL with The most important things.
The twelve artists will compete on December 16th on Rai Uno from the Teatro del Casinò di Saremo for the final evening of Sanremo Youth aimed at decreeing the three names that will participate in the 73rd edition of the Festivalwhich will take place from 7 to 11 February 2023. Management, as for 2024, is entrusted to Amadeus.
The show Sanremo Youth, also live on Rai Radio 2, will also be available on RaiPlay. The three will compete for the Ariston stage – but with a new song different from the one presented in these selections – with the big names of the Italian music scene (the names will be revealed on December 4th), as already happens after Claudio’s artistic direction Baglioni.
Suffice it to recall that among last year’s names, Tananai is now considered not a rising star but a confirmation. «Listening to the songs – explained Amadeus in the past – is one of the greatest privileges of the Artistic Director. I feel the responsibility of influencing the future of many young people. Sanremo Youth over the years it has become an essential appointment for new talents and many successful careers prove it. Thanks to Rai which with strength and continuity pursues the promotion of young artists and Italian music”.
