The governor of Santa Catarina Jorginho Mello (PL) declared official three-day mourning in respect of the victims of an attack on a daycare center that killed 4 children in Blumenau this Wednesday morning (5).
“It is with great sadness that I receive the regrettable news that the Cantinho do Bom Pastor private day care center, in Blumenau, was invaded by an assassin who attacked children and staff. Unfortunately, four did not resist and died, in addition to three wounded”, lamented the governor in an official note.
“I leave here my full solidarity. May God comfort the hearts of all families in this moment of deep pain”, concluded the governor.
In a video received by CNN Jorginho Mello said that Santa Catarina is “shocked and dismayed” by the crime and that it is necessary to bring families closer to the school environment.
“Society needs to talk more, it needs to call the family more into the school. We, as public managers, need to think about what we can do to contribute and increase security in all aspects”, said the governor in a video.
