The rest of the week will be unusually cold for this time of year throughout the Center-South of Brazil, according to MetSul meteorologist Estael Sias.
In an interview with CNN Radio she highlighted that the cold front will cause São Paulo and the southern region of the country to register a sharp drop in temperature, which will be below 10 degrees, as of Wednesday (2).
“The highlight is for the cold afternoons in the capital of São Paulo, and the normal would be around 27 degrees for the time”, he said.
Paraná, Minas Gerais, Goiás, Mato Grosso will also have a registered drop.
“Rio de Janeiro, south of Bahia, up to Rondônia the weather will cool down”, he said.
The south of the country will still register, near the border with Uruguay, temperatures between 2 and 4 degrees, with the risk of freezing rain and frost.
“In the middle of November this is not normal, what draws the attention of the polar air mass is its shape, which is continental, and typical of June and July, the height of winter.”
The late cold, according to the meteorologist’s explanation, is due to the new performance of the La Niña phenomenon, which persists in the spring, and a southern oscillation of Antarctica, which releases polar air masses towards South America.
According to Estael Sias, MetSul predicts that the heat will come more strongly between December and January.
