The government of the state of São Paulo announced, this Wednesday (2), a “C-Day” for the vaccination of children aged 5 to 11 years against Covid-19.
In a press conference, Governor João Doria stated that the action will take place from 7 am to 7 pm on Saturday, February 5, in all municipalities in São Paulo. The total cost to the state coffers should be R$ 5.5 million, with five thousand vaccination posts open.
Childhood immunization in São Paulo started on January 14 with children with comorbidities. On the 20th of the same month, with the approval of Coronavac by the National Health Surveillance Agency (Anvisa), São Paulo expanded vaccination and began to immunize children by age group.
According to the government, four million doses of Coronavac and 900,000 pediatric doses of Pfizer have now been made available, and all counties have enough vaccines to immunize all children ages 5 to 11 with the first dose.
According to Anvisa’s release, children aged 5 years or immunosuppressed can only receive the Pfizer immunizer.
Until early this Wednesday afternoon, 1,451,814 children received the first dose of vaccines against Covid-19, which corresponds to 36.26% of the target audience.
