The city of São Paulo will grant a discount on the Property Tax on Motor Vehicles (IPVA) for electric, hydrogen-powered or hybrid cars.
The tax reduction refers to the portion that the coffers of the capital of São Paulo receive from the tax, up to a limit of R$ 3,292.
The amounts collected with the IPVA are destined, in a percentage of 20%, to the Fund for Maintenance and Development of Basic Education and for the Valorization of Education Professionals (Fundeb).
The remainder is divided equally between the municipality of vehicle registration and the government of the state of São Paulo.
Therefore, the discount is related to 40% of the total amount collected for the prefecture.
The owner must make a request to receive the refund on Portal 156, from the Municipal Finance Department.
The amount can be received in a checking account or used to deduct the Urban Property and Territorial Tax (IPTU).
