The Secretary of State of São Paulo confirmed this Sunday (12) the first “imported” case of the Ômicron variant in the interior. This is a 40-year-old woman, resident in Limeira, who traveled to South Africa and France in November.
This is the fifth case of the Ômicron variant in the state of São Paulo.
She has a complete vaccination schedule and reports only mild symptoms such as headache, cough and runny nose. She is under monitoring by the Municipal Surveillance of Limeira and in home isolation, without contact with her husband and child, who already had a negative result for a PCR test.
The patient was diagnosed positive for Covid-19 on December 3, after undergoing an antigen test. His sample was submitted to genetic sequencing by the Instituto Adolfo Lutz, with results for the new variant.
All other cases of Ômicron in São Paulo also had complete vaccination and reports of mild or asymptomatic symptoms.
The State Department of Health, through the State Epidemiological Surveillance Center (CVE), maintains monitoring of the epidemiological scenario throughout the territory of SP.
The cases are individually monitored by the municipal health teams and any and all unusual injuries are monitored by state surveillance.
According to the survey of CNN Agency, Brazil records 11 cases of the Ômicron variant of the coronavirus. In addition to São Paulo, the Federal District and Rio Grande do Sul confirmed two cases each.
Also according to CNN Agency, 60 countries already register infections with the new variant.
