São Paulo confirms third case of monkeypox

The city of São Paulo confirmed, on Tuesday night (14), the third case of monkeypox. The patient is a 31-year-old man who is hospitalized at the Instituto de Infectologia Emílio Ribas and is in good health.

According to health authorities, the case is considered imported because it has a travel history to European countries. The analysis was performed by Instituto Adolfo Lutz, in São Paulo.

The municipality’s epidemiological surveillance teams, in partnership with the state, monitor the case and their respective contacts.

Rio de Janeiro confirms first case

Rio de Janeiro confirmed, this Wednesday (15), the first case of monkeypox in the state capital.

According to the Municipal Health Department, the patient is a 38-year-old man who lives in London and arrived in Brazil on June 11. He sought medical attention at the Evandro Chagas National Institute of Infectious Diseases (INI/Fiocruz) on the 12th.
