São Paulo vaccinates 500,000 children between 5 and 11 years old against Covid-19

The state of São Paulo has already applied the first dose of vaccines against Covid-19 to 500,000 children aged 5 to 11 years.

This group started being vaccinated with Coronavac on January 22. According to the State Secretary of Health, Jean Gorinchteyn, until the first half of February, all children will receive a dose of vaccines against Covid.

According to the government, until early this Wednesday afternoon (26), 520,186 children received their first dose, almost 13% of the target audience.

The data was announced at a press conference this Wednesday afternoon (26), held at Palácio dos Bandeirantes.

It was also said that 80.34% of the population of the state received two doses of vaccines against Covid. With the vaccination of children, the rate of people who took at least one dose exceeded 86%.

  • 20/01 a 30/01 – first dose for children 9 to 11 years old and 5 to 11 years old with comorbidities, disabilities, indigenous people and quilombolas
  • 31/01 a 10/02 – first dose for children 5 to 8 years old and 5 to 11 years old with comorbidities, disabilities, indigenous people and quilombolas

According to the government, 4 million doses of Coronavac have already been distributed to municipalities in São Paulo.

Children 5 years of age or immunosuppressed can only receive the Pfizer vaccine, as authorized by the National Health Surveillance Agency (Anvisa). The others can be vaccinated with Coronavac.

In the state of São Paulo, 4.3 million children must be immunized against Covid-19.
