Saoirse Ronan says she can’t get over losing her role in “Harry Potter”

The actress Saoirse Ronan revealed which role she can’t get over having lost: that of Luna Lovegood in the franchise films “Harry Potter” .

“There are things that you let go and then they come to light, and you think, ‘Oh God, that was a mistake on my part,’” she said in an interview on Jimmy Kimmel Live.

Ronan said one character has stuck with him “over the years”: “I had applied to play Luna Lovegood in ‘Harry Potter’ years ago because it was like an Irish character, so they brought in all Irish, like, half from Ireland to take the test.”

The actress clarified that she didn’t reject the role, she just wasn’t called: “I knew I couldn’t do it because I was too young, but I managed to read a scene that would be in ‘Harry Potter’ and it was the coolest thing in the world.”

The role of Luna Lovegood went to Evanna Lynch, the actress who brought the character to life in the fifth film in the “Harry Potter” franchise.
