Satellite imagery reveals Russian army gathering around Ukraine

New satellite imagery reveals large concentration of Russian troops in several locations in Belarus, Crimea and western Russianear the border with Ukraine, amid crisis between the two countries.

According to CNN, Russian forces have been moving into Belarus for the past two weeks, with the Russian and Belarusian defense ministries saying the missions are in view of a major training exercise this month.

The images were collected and analyzed by Maxar Technologies, which notes that troop growth “reflects an increased level of activity and preparedness”.

Maxar and other satellite image providers say they have observed the expansion of existing Russian military training fields to about 150 miles from the Ukrainian border in recent months.
