Satellite images of Russia’s Kursk region showed the new trenches built about 50 kilometers north of Sudzha.
An image from late July showed several areas of agricultural property near the small town of Lgov. Another image captured by the satellite on Tuesday (13) showed the opening of such trenches on some plots.
In the early hours of August 6, thousands of Ukrainian troops crossed the Russian border into the Kursk region of northwestern Russia, the largest foreign incursion into Russia in decades.
Russian commanders said the front at Kursk had stabilized, even as Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said his forces were continuing to advance in the region and ordered his generals to develop the next “fundamental stages” of the operation.
Ukraine has said it controls at least 1,000 square kilometers of Russia, more than double Moscow’s figure. Reuters was unable to independently verify the situation on the battlefield.
