Satellite photos released today show the destruction at a Russian airbase in Crimea, which was affected days ago. The air base suffered extensive fire damage and at least eight damaged planes are visible. The attack “showed” that the Kyiv may have acquired new possibilities for long-range strikes that could change the course of the war. It is worth noting that the Russia has denied that aircraft were damaged and claimed that the explosions that occurred were due to an accident.

The photos, released by the independent company satellites Planet Labs, depict three nearly identical craters where buildings were precisely hit in Russian Saki Air Base. The base, on Crimea’s southwest coast, was extensively damaged by fire and at least eight damaged planes are clearly visible.
And from the first satellite images of the airfield near Novofedorivka (finally!)
On the Planet Labs photo service, you can see that not all Russian aviation “survived” on August 9, when a series of explosions rang out at the test site. pic.twitter.com/FIVs2hXfBc

Russia has denied that any aircraft were damaged and claimed that the explosions, that were noted the day before yesterday, Tuesday, at the base, were due to accident. For its part, Ukraine has not publicly claimed responsibility for the attack, nor has it announced exactly how it was carried out.

“Officially we do not confirm either we deny anything; there are many scenarios of what could have happened … bearing in mind that there were several epicenters of explosions at exactly the same time,” Mykhailo Podoliak, an adviser to the Ukrainian president, told Reuters in a message. As reported by the Athens News Agency, Western military experts stated that the scale of damages and the obvious accuracy of plagues reveal powerful new possibilities with potentially significant consequences.
