Remote regions of Greenland lost access to essential satellite services, including internet and phones, said the Arctic Island telecommunications group on Monday night (28), adding that it would investigate whether this was related to a large blackout in Spain.
Greenland’s Tusass telecommunications company, said in a statement that it lost connection with Spain -based satellite equipment, which provide telephone, internet, TV and radio services.
“At this time, there is no contact with our equipment in Maspalomas, Spain, on which we depend deeply to be able to supply customers in the satellite area,” said Tusass in the statement.
The affected places were remote settlements. It was not immediately clear how many people were affected.
On Monday night (29), the power supply began to be restored in parts of the Iberian Peninsula after a major interruption that paralyzed most of Spain and Portugal.
