Saudi Arabia: See what the first vertical city without cars will be like

The plans for “THE LINE”, the first vertical city without cars, were released by the Saudi Arabia while video has been released of her design… a 500-meter-tall skyscraper covered in reflective surfaces intended to house nine million people.

The project for the straight line, citywhich will be 170 kilometers long and 200 meters wide, was inaugurated by the crown prince of Saudi Arabia, Mohammed bin Salman, and characterized as “a revolution in culture”.

Its territorial footprint is only 34 square kilometers and will house nine million people who will live in neighborhoods where all daily needs will be within five minutes’ walking distance. The city’s infrastructure will make it possible to get from one end of the city to the other within 20 minutes, meaning no cars are required.

The Line is planned as part of the Neom initiative and Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 drive to diversify its economy and become less dependent on crude oil.
