Yousef and Yassin have been for 19 months Siamese, united “in many institutions”. The two babies were separated in a complicated operation that took place in Yemen, lasted 15 hours and involved 24 doctors.
Doctors at King Salman’s Center for Humanitarian Aid and Rescue performed a “four-phase” operation to separate the Siamese. They even called it “one of the most complicated” they have ever done.
Last week King Salman’s Of Saudi Arabia ordered the transfer to Riyadh of two other Siamese, Mauanda and Rahma, “in order to undergo a medical examination and confirm” that they could be separated, the SPA reported.
The king “attaches great importance to the Saudi program for the Siamese,” the state agency added. Last July, Saudi doctors divorced Siamese babies, saying it was the 50th such successful operation.
