Saudi Arabia’s Foreign Minister is in Lebanon after 15 years – “We support and are optimistic about the country’s future”

Saudi Arabia’s foreign minister arrived in Beirut today to meet Lebanon’s new leadership, the first visit by a high-ranking official from the kingdom to the country in 15 years of strained relations. “Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan has arrived at Rafik Hariri International Airport,” the national news agency ANI reported. He was primarily welcomed by the new president, Joseph Aoun, whose election marks a new chapter in relations with Saudi Arabia. Prince Faisal bin Farhan said he was “convinced” of the ability of Lebanon’s new leaders to carry out “necessary reforms”. “We have great confidence in the ability of the president and the prime minister to carry out the necessary reforms to strengthen Lebanon’s security, stability and unity,” the Saudi official told reporters from the presidential palace.
