School, enrollments for next year are starting: here’s how

It is still not clear how this school year will end, but from today you can subscribe to the next one. Online registration for the 2021-2022 school year is starting. Applications can be submitted from 8 am on 4 January to 8 pm on 25 January on the dedicated page of the Ministry of Education.

Everything is done online but you don’t need to rush. Whoever submits the application first does not have a guaranteed position. As early as December 19, it was possible to request credentials to access the site, anyone with a digital identity (SPID) can access the service without further registration.

The choice of the institute is personal, usually linked to the proximity to home for middle and elementary schools and more to the orientation of the boys for the upper secondary school. This year there is a risk of redundancies because many institutes, especially higher ones, due to Covid, can accept fewer requests.

Online enrollments are mandatory for state schools and optional for private schools. They also concern the education and training courses of the Regional Vocational Training Centers of the regions that have joined the procedure.

From this year a new graphical interface and the virtual assistant Lolly will guide users in completing the application. On the dedicated page and on the YouTube channel of the Ministry of Education, three video tutorials are available to accompany families in all stages of online registration. An App of the Scuola in Chiaro portal allows you to find the main information on each institution.

REGISTRATION
The first step is to register on the site Online registration, active for the entire period. It is used to have the passwords to actually enter the registration site. Your personal details must be inserted in this step with a document and the fiscal Code. Those who already have a digital identity from a previous subscription can use them to access the service. Anyone with a digital identity can use this.

To register, you need an e-mail address (to be entered twice). Here comes a confirmation link, it is valid for 24 hours. At this point, a second e-mail is sent with the credentials (username and password) to access the online registration service. At the first access to the service you are asked to change the password that was sent by e-mail. There password edited must be at least 8 characters and must include: a number, an uppercase letter and a lowercase letter. Always at the first access, the application also asks to confirm or integrate the registration data.

TIMES AND SCHOOLS
From 8 in the morning of Monday 4 January to 20 on Monday 25 it is the time for enrollment in the first year from elementary school to high school for the school year 2021/2022. The enrollments are those in the initial classes of each grade, from primary, the old elementary, to secondary, middle and high schools.

PRIMARY SCHOOL
Children who turn 6 years old by 31 December 2021 can be enrolled in the first class of primary school. Children who turn 6 years old can also be enrolled by 30 April 2022. The first choice is indicated as school and then two other institutes at most. There are 27 teaching hours per week, even for those who work full time, at school until 4.30pm, and not the module, which goes out at 2pm, three days a week.

SECONDARY OF I DEGREE
They are the old averages. Upon registration you can choose the weekly timetable of 30 or 36 hours or 40 with the extended time. After the first chosen institution, two more can be added.

SECONDARY II DEGREE
The application is presented to only one school and allows you to indicate, in the alternative, up to a maximum of two other institutions of your liking in addition to the one chosen. From middle school, the family receives an orientation judgment necessary for enrollment.

SIGNING UP
It can only be done online through the website of the Ministry of Education which has a special Enrollment page. They must be entered the pupil’s data: tax code, name and surname, date of birth, residence. Afterwards the preference for the institute is expressed. For each boy you can ask only one question which is only needed for the first year. For subsequent ones, enrollment is automatic unless you decide to change schools. A preferred institution is indicated and then two if there is no place in the first. You can interrupt and resume the procedure without losing the data entered.

IF I DO NOT HAVE A COMPUTER AND INTERNET CONNECTION?
The school secretariats are available to activate the procedure and fill in the enrollment application.

MORE CHILDREN
A single registration is enough to have access to the different registration pages if you have more children.

COMPILATION
Enter the page with the user code and password, then click on: submit a new registration application. It is requested to indicate the pupil’s data with indications of the schools in order of priority and their identification code. The application can be checked, viewed and saved in pdf format, before sending it electronically.

CONFIRMATION
A receipt of the submission will be sent via e-mail and, subsequently, also the updates of the application process. The application process can also be followed through the Registrations website and with a dedicated app of the ministry.

KNOW SCHOOLS AND CODES
On the ministry website there is the section Search your school where schools are listed by address, type, region. Each school enters in its own form the criteria for the acceptance of the application and eventually those for priority, for example brothers in the same school or proximity by road. For high school i criteria the most common are: catchment area, average marks in the second grade report card, orientation judgment, conduct mark, entrance test. On the form there are also the contacts of the school for further information, the number of classes present and the framework of teachers and you can consult the Self-Assessment Report of each school.

CORRECTIONS
Corrections can be made, but not through the site. Changes can be made by contacting directly the first chosen school which is the one the module arrives at.

COMPLETION OF REGISTRATION
When registration is closed, the schools evaluate the applications and create the ranking of the students. If the application has been accepted by the first school reported, the confirmation arrives via e-mail, otherwise the sorting is communicated to one of the other hypotheses reported and from these then any confirmation arrives.

STATUS OF THE APPLICATION
The family receives all updates on the status of the application via e-mail up to the confirmation of final acceptance. The status of the application can be: Submitted, that is, has been delivered to the first school, which, after the registration closes, will begin to evaluate it together with all the other applications received; Returned to the family (only during the enrollment period), when the school returns the application already submitted to the family (either at the request of the family itself or at the initiative of the school) to integrate some missing information. An application returned, after the changes, must be resubmitted. Or it can be accepted, when the application is accepted by the school, then sorted, when it is forwarded to the alternative school.

THE OTHER SCHOOLS
Online registrations also concern the education and training courses of the Regional Vocational Training Centers for the participating regions. It remains optional for schools to join the online enrollment system.
