Readjustment in the value of the meal
President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) announced on March 10th an adjustment in the values of school lunches in public education, frozen for five years. The increase reached 39% for elementary and high school students.
The funds intended for student meals are transferred by the federal government to states and municipalities through the National School Meals Program (Pnae).
The new amounts will be paid as of this month. By calculations, the total investment for school meals should reach R$ 5.5 billion.
