In a public school in Saltillo, Coahuila, in Mexico, a poster was placed that has gone viral on social networks because of how controversial it is, since its function is to invite mothers to dress appropriately when picking up your children at dismissal time.
The message asks mothers not to attend shortsminiskirt, with necklines or strapless blouses to avoid “unnecessary disrespect” and if they do not comply with the indication, they will be returned home to dress appropriately.
Of course, this caused more than one debate to arise on the networks and while the opinions were very divided, it was pointed out how macho the message is, since it refers to the way women dress, in this case the mothers of families, is reason enough to disrespect them. wow! Not satisfied with that, they assigned it to the children as if the rule was their idea.
Among the reactions and responses of Internet users, we were also able to find those who agreed with the instructions, emphasizing that values are taught in schools and that by asking for a dress code, they were only reinforcing “morality and good customs.” However, another publication caught the attention of the media, because it is she, a mother of a family, who corrected the poster in a much more progressive way.
Despite the criticism, the Saltillo school has not responded and it is unknown if the poster has already been removed from the facilities. It is also not known if there was an incident previously due to the way a mother dressed. However, this event takes us back to what happened in Bolivia, where a mother was scandalized by another woman’s way of dressing when she left her child at school.
Both cases are sad, although one of them has not happened in our country, because both are a sign that we still live in a society that, far from managing values, seeks to show and hold women accountable for the lack of respect that comes from of others and not necessarily of men.
