It will not be a return to life without restrictions. After the holidays Italy will return to the division by colors and for the most part it should be yellow based on the Rt indices in the various regions. They will not reopen immediately after January 6th, end of the lockdown of parties, swimming pools and gyms, cinemas and theaters. These activities are stopped until January 15, the day of expiry of the Christmas decree. We will go back to school on the 7th, with high school probably at 50% for high school.
RT AND REGIONS
Calabria, Liguria and Veneto have an Rt above 1 according to the latest data from the Istituto Superiore di Sanità.
There may be limitations for these even after the holidays. In Italy, the average Rt index on symptomatic cases is 0.93: 9 Regions and autonomous provinces are classified as low risk, 11 are classified as moderate risk, Emilia-Romagna, Valle d’Aosta and Veneto could pass into high risk. Intensive care, however, is below the critical threshold.
SCHOOL
Prime Minister Conte reiterated his desire to bring high school students back to school at the end of the year press conference. 50% according to the ordinance of the Ministry of Health for the days from 7 to 15 January, but there are regions such as Emilia-Romagna and Tuscany ready to bring 75% of students back in attendance. The rest always in distance learning. Elementary and middle schools remain present. Each region has chosen its own path for student safety. Piedmont tracks and tests teachers and students, Friuli Venezia Giulia has enhanced transport.
TRANSPORT
The possibility of using public transport remains fixed at 50%.
SCI
Not on the 7th, but on the 18th of January. The regions ask to postpone the opening of the ski resorts to this date. Given the epidemiological data, there would be no conditions for ensuring safety with the reopening for now.
BARS AND RESTAURANTS
Until a new decree the rules with the divisions into zones remain valid: only take-out and deliveries in the red and orange zone, possibility to stay open until 6 pm in the yellow zone with a maximum of 4 people per table.
SHOPS
Also for shops there are rules valid for zones. They are closed only in the red zone. Grocery stores, pharmacies, but also bookshops and tobacconists are always open.
SWIMMING POOLS AND GYMS
The Minister of Sport Spadafora hypothesized the reopening for the end of January. The hypothesis is to use single lanes for swimming pools and allow individual lessons in gyms.
MUSEUMS, CINEMAS AND THEATERS
The first to open, certainly after January 15, should be the museums with admissions by reservation only. There is no reopening date for cinemas and theaters for which the distancing protocols are already ready. Still closed the discos, to reopen the dance clubs the Rt index should be constantly under 0.5.
