School, the “tutor teacher” arrives for children with “some difficulties”

A new figure, which will be introduced from the next school year, after a period of specific training. The establishment of a ‘tutor teacher’ for each class was announced by the Minister of Education Joseph Vallettarain an interview with Messenger. He will be a teacher «who he will have to have special training, and also be paid moreand that he will have to follow those in particular in team with the other teachers kids with more difficulties of learning but also of very good ones who maybe get bored in class and need to speed up».

Valditara adds: «We have also managed to obtain from the Mef the consent to use Pnrr funds to pay teachers and ATA staffengaged in the fight against early school leaving. The plans and interventions against abandonment must be at least every two years”. And again: «Teaching must be personalized as much as possible, precisely because the school of merit we are talking about must develop the individual talents of the students, promoting each one’s aptitudes».

Second Dario Ianes, full professor of Pedagogy and Special Education ahe University of Bolzano and co-founder of the Erickson Study Center in Trento, the introduction of the tutor teacher can be a positive initiative. «I am in favor», he explains to us, «if it is about an assumption of greater responsibility by curricular teachers, those who already follow the class. Four or five of them can each choose to follow a pupil who has some difficulties, such as learning disabilities or dyslexia, for example. For problems that fall within the field of disability, however, there are already support teachers, to whom this new responsibility should not also be delegated”.

Also according to Rino Di Meglio, national coordinator of the Guild-Unams federationa union that represents the employees of the school sector, «definitely the minister’s idea is originalobviously the discussion must be brought to the seat of the next contract, following the one currently being closed. First of all, substantial appropriations are needed, also because at the moment the class groups to which the minister refers are over 370,000″. And again: «The characteristics of this figure should then be carefully drawn, who should not only be trained, but also have proven experience and with at least twenty years of effective teaching. At present it does not seem, starting from the chronic scarcity of resources, a simple walk”.
