School van with 20 children falls into a ravine in the interior of SP; watch video

A school van carrying 20 students fell into a ravine in the city of Várzea Paulista, in the interior of São Paulo, this Monday (19).

According to the city hall, 20 students from the Municipal Center for Basic Education (Cemeb) Profª Edith Schneider were on board the vehicle, in addition to a monitor and the driver. See video of the accident below.

“According to initial reports, the driver was unable to stop the vehicle, which reversed and fell into a ravine of approximately 7 meters,” the city hall said in a statement.

According to the authorities, the occurrence was initially attended by the Municipal Civil Guard (GCM), in addition to the Military Fire Department, Civil Defense, Civil Fire Group and Civil Police.

Those involved were rescued at the Emergency Care Unit in the city and at the reference hospital in the region, São Vicente de Paulo.

City Hall reported that 18 of the 20 children are under observation at the UPA, and two others are being treated at Hospital São Vicente de Paulo.
