Scotland, rapes two women, then declares himself trans and asks to serve his sentence in a women’s prison

She was found guilty of raping two women, but – since she started gender transition (MtF) – she asked to be able to serve her sentence in a women’s prison. Isla Bryson, 31 years old, his name was Adam Graham when, in 2016 and 2019, he assaulted his victims in Clydebank and Glasgow, Scotland. At the first court hearing he was a shaven man with a tattooed face, but now he’s a woman with a blond bob and a pink jacket.

The Scottish Gender Self-Identification Act allows you to change your sex with one simple self-certification, without the need for a medical diagnosisHowever, the case of Isla Bryson is causing a lot of controversy because, as explained by Sandy Brindley, managing director of Turnip Crisis Scotland, it is the first time a trans woman has been convicted of raping women in Scotland. “And if someone has been convicted of a serious sexual offence, he shouldn’t be detained with the general female population.”

Initially, Isla Bryson will be in remand at the women’s prison of Cornton Vale, where she will still be separated from the other inmates. Then, in a multidisciplinary assessment, it will be decided whether you will have to serve your sentence with men or women.

The assessment will need to measure the risk Bryson poses to other women and what she could run herself if held with men. Of course, she cannot be kept in solitary confinement forever, otherwise her human rights would be violated.

The writer JK Rowling she tweeted: “Do you agree that a convicted double rape rapist, who decided to be a woman after appearing in court, ends up in a women’s prison, or are you a bigot far-right fanatic?”

According to Adam Graham’s ex-wife, Shonna, the decision to become a woman would not be that “a farce” to make life easier in prison. “His transition is just a ploy to make fun of the justice system and to be locked up in a women’s prison,” she explained to MailOnline. “Never once did he say anything to me about feeling like he was in the wrong body or anything. I have a lot of sympathy for real transgender people, it’s a difficult thing to live with, but hers is just a loophole to screw over the authorities ».
