Scotland: They ran 106 marathons in 106 days

Faye Cunningham, 35, and Emma Petri, 26, are two athletes from Scotland who broke the Guinness World Record when they both ran 106 marathons in 106 days. The current Guinness World Record is held by American Alice Clark, who ran 95 marathons in 95 days in 2020. The record was unofficially broken by Jackie Hunt Borsman.

The girls, who are a couple in life, ran first marathon on February 19 and covered the same distance, 41.8 kilometers every day until their last route last Saturday.

The two athletes raised money for the charity MND & Macmillian, which supports patients with dementia. According to APE-MPE, they were inspired by Cunningham’s father, Alan, who died after a battle with dementia.

“We both know that life is short and the ability to run or walk does not last forever,” Cunningham told Running Magazine. “My father was fit and active and inspired us to face this challenge,” he added.
